Performance testing is a kind of non-functional software testing. It’s about understanding the response time, capacity, and stability of a software solution.
In performance testing we often use load testing tools, which are a way we can simulate many thousands (or millions) of users completing business activities in a way which reflects the real world. While this ‘load’ is applied to the system we can observe the performance of the underlying solution.
My experience is that software performance is often misunderstood. We get bogged down by buzzwords and misinformation and a separation between the people who understand what is important to your business versus the people who understand the technical detail that performance testing requires. My objective is to bridge the gap between those two worlds.
